From February 3 to 6, 2025, Mining Indaba, Africa’s premier mining event, took place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). SANY South Africa made a remarkable debut, showcasing its advanced microgrid and green mining solutions, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable mining through technological innovation.
Innovative Booth Showcases Sustainable Vision
SANY South Africa’s booth (No. C30) focused on "Microgrid Solutions," featuring a dynamic layout, interactive models, and live demonstrations. A key attraction was the 3D sand table model of the microgrid, which illustrated how clean energy integration, intelligent power management, and energy storage optimization help mining enterprises reduce costs and enhance energy efficiency.
"African mines face challenges like unstable power supply and high energy costs. SANY's microgrid solution offers a one-stop clean energy alternative with modular design and digital control, enabling a green transition," said Zhang Jianjun, General Manager of SANY South Africa. During the event, SANY secured preliminary cooperation agreements with several leading African mining groups, highlighting strong market demand. The company also showcased a comprehensive green mining solution covering exploration, extraction, and transportation.
High-Level Dialogue on the Future of Mining
SANY executives engaged in closed-door discussions with African mining ministers, industry leaders, and international financial institutions on sustainable mining and energy solutions. Dr. Li Jinming, Chairman of SANY Group’s International Business Unit, outlined SANY’s goals of decarbonization, digitization, and intelligence, emphasizing a commitment to full life-cycle services.
Dr. Chen Jia delivered a keynote speech, "Microgrid Drives Energy Revolution in African Mining," reinforcing SANY’s vision of leveraging "microgrid + green equipment" to drive efficiency and sustainability in Africa’s mining sector.
Looking ahead, SANY South Africa's ABP project, set for completion in August 2025, will serve as a regional hub for manufacturing, logistics, and talent development. This investment marks a significant step toward supporting Africa’s mining industry’s green transformation and sustainable growth.
